NSCDC Officials killed by Gunmen in IMO

The Imo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has confirmed the killing of two of its men by bandits in Obiangwu in the Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

The state spokesman for the corps, Chimeziri Noel, who confirmed the incident to Channels Television. He said as part of the primary assignment and mandate of the agency, the officers were on routine monitoring of some critical national assets and infrastructure in the area when the incident occurred.

Noel said the NSCDC officers were attacked and killed by bandits in the early hours of Monday. Adding that their bodies had been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre in Owerri.

The spokesman noted that security has been beefed up in the area.

According to him, while an investigation has kicked off into the unfortunate incident. The command with the assistance of other security agencies has activated a search party to go after the hoodlums.
